Aim: to develop and practice speaking and writing skills, to encourage learners to use English creatively.

Outcomes: By the end of the lesson students will be able to describe what they already know about families by thinking and sharing facts about their own families, to name not less than 8 members of their families, to describe their friends

Objectives:

ü to revise family vocabulary;

ü to makeup questions and answer them;

ü to show examples of different kinds of families where children might see their own experiences represented;

ü to develop reading and writing skills;

ü to form skills of working in groups;

ü to have an opportunity to be creative in a supported way.

Beginning of the lesson

I.                   Greeting (Let’s make two circles: inside and outside)

II.                The aim

1.      “Word cloud” (Guess  the aim)

Today we will speak about the family. Everything begins in the family and every child has to live in the family with his mother and father, sister and brother, grandmother and grandfather. For good work, I’ll give you some part of a puzzle.

III.             Warm up

IV.            Pre-reading activities (practice)

1.     Game-quizzing (Let’s try to do online tests)

2.     Male – female (There are many family words. You need to group up these words into two columns: male and female)

3.      Game “Guess and write” (Whom can you see here? Write down, pleasure)

4.     Physical activity “Hokey - Pokey” (You have gathered the whole family together. Let’s make a family party. Stand up and make a circle.)

V.               Reading

1.     Work in groups (Stand up and move here or there. When the music will stop I’ll say the number of participants in one group. And you’ll make up these groups.)

Ø My name is Bill. I have a brother, a sister and my parents. I love my family but mostly my little brother because he is very cute, cheeky, funny and jumpy. My mother is smart and she means a lot to me and my sister. My father goes to work and brings the money to pay the bills. Sometimes he takes us out for dinner and volleyball. And my sister talks all the time.

Ø Let me tell you about my family. I’m Vicky. I live with my mother, my father and my big sister. My mum’s name is Carmen. She’s short and slim, she’s got long, brown hair and brown eyes. My dad’s name is David. He’s tall and a little fat! He’s got short brown hair and blue eyes. He works in a bank. My sister Shania is 14 and she loves listening to music. She’s got long brown hair and green eyes, like me. I’ve got long hair too.

Ø Hello , my name is Tom. I have a big family. My brother's name is Ivan. He is a student. My mother’s name is Nina. She is a doctor. My father's name is David. He is a driver. My uncle’s name is Dima. He is a very tall man. My grandmother’s name is Maria. My grandfather’s name is Oleg. They are very kind and helpful people. I love my family very much.
